• I am attempting to set up wordpress for a friend… I uploaded all the files to the root directory, and have set up a mySQL database and user as well (and they are working correctly). When I attempt to install wordpress using /wp-admin/install.php, I get this message first:

There doesn’t seem to be a wp-config.php file. I need this before we can get started. Need more help? We got it. You can create a wp-config.php file through a web interface, but this doesn’t work for all server setups. The safest way is to manually create the file.

    Create a Configuration File

When I click on “Create a Configuration File” I get this message:

Sorry, I can’t write to the directory. You’ll have to either change the permissions on your WordPress directory or create your wp-config.php manually.

I have set all the directories permissions to 755 and the permissions for wp-config-sample.php file to 777 for the time being but it still does not work… can anyone please help on this?
