I have just discovered that it’s impossible to view my site, https://www.likeims.se, as soon as I try I am asked for authorization. I recently updated it, but now cannot see what version it is, but should be latest. I don’t want to enter my credentials this way – in the “401 authorization required” box that shows up, and in any case the site should be visible to users without them having to log on. I have not locked my site on purpose, I’m sure of that. Have I been hacked or did something go wrong with the update or is it my provider who has done something? I have absolutely no idea and am desperate for some help! Please if you have any ideas, I’d be very grateful.

  • As far as i see your website is hosted by uniweb. Since clamav dedected one file used by wordpress as infected/virus, some webhosters took websites containing wordpress and other CMS using tinymce down.

You might simply delete the file
    wp-includes/js/tinymce/plugins/media/moxieplayer.swf

and rename the .htaccess….. file in document root to .htaccess

    best

Thanks chrwhm! I seached for moxieplayer.swf and discovered I’m not the only one with problems, such a relief just to know what the problem is.

What is tinymce used for, do I risk breaking th site if I delete the .swf file?

I’m not sure how you mean about renaming .htaccess – renaming to the same name surely won’t do anything? I can only find it in the folder wp-content\plugins\akismet.

Thank you so much for your help.

I’m not quite sure where the file is used. But since its part of tinymce, it should only be used by some wysiwyg-editor. Since uniweb knows about the issue, maybe there is no need to delete this file anymore.

There should by a file named like “.htaccess.closed.uniweb” (or something like that) in your document root. You have to rename this file to “.htaccess”. Maybe you need to enable the listing of hidden files in your ftp-client.

Uniweb posted on facebook, that they will reopen the websites – so you also could wait a few hours: https://www.facebook.com/UniWeb.no?fref=ts
