Cannot Verify Website with Jetpack

I get the following error when I try to add a Google Search Console tag to my website:

This is Greek to me. I don’t want to mess with the theme if I don’t know what I’m doing. I’m using the theme Penscratch 2. What can I do? Any help would be appreciated.
