At least, I think that’s the cause of my lone problem with Ultimate Member Version 1.3.68 (absolutely love it for this particular directory situation).

I have several members entered and visible on the front-end in our directory.

Then we had a member go through the activation process, but their profile would not appear in the front-end directory. I could see their profile fine in the back-end, and they were listed as approved for the directory…

Went through all sorts of possible reasons, but the most likely, and one I’ve now replicated, is that if you sign up with or change an existing member’s email to an email of someone who was a member but has since been deleted – the profile will not show up on the front-end.

Now, it’s possible that in some of my tests, there was a member with that email address still in the system. However, even if that was the case, Ultimate Member didn’t tell me the address already existed – I could enter the email, have it accepted, but then the profile dropped off the front end.

Looking in the usermeta table of the database, I noticed that an old email was sitting in the registration data field, even though the user’s current email (the one displayed in the UM dashboard and on their Account page) was different…

I’m wondering if that mismatch of emails is causing the problem?

Sorry to be so uncertain about the tests – long long day!

Anyone else experienced active profiles dropping off the front-end?

  • Hi,

Two suggestions. First, does the problem remain if you erase the old member email from your database? Second, there have been some issues with members not appearing in the member directory. These have reportedly been fixed in the pre-release version here:

    I’ve pinpointed the problem.

Changing a user’s email address is making the user disappear from the front-end directory.

I just signed up, using an email that’s never been used in the system. The member profile appeared on the front end. Then I updated the account information, changing the email to another one that’s never been used in the system. The profile disappeared.

I’ll try updating to 1.3.69 and see if this is corrected.

    UPDATE (still using 1.3.68):

It’s changing anything in the user account that’s causing the issue.

I went back and tried changing the first and then the last name of a user, without changing the email, and the profile disappeared in both cases.

I then tried changing any Profile field (address, phone, etc.) and all of them could be changed without any issues.

    I installed ultimatemember-pre-v1.3.69.14 and everything’s working now!

I’ve been able to change first name, last name, email, and password, and the profile remains visible on the front end.

    Thanks so much!
