Cannot use buttons in WordPress

  • Hello

    Ever since I updated to WordPress 4.7.5 the following has happened:

    1. I cannot click on the Media button in WordPress to add media. I click on it, but no pop up appears to choose an image any longer.

    2. I cannot switch into Text mode either.

    3. I cannot click on a link, right-click and click on that arrow to make it open in a new page (the pop up has disappeared).

    4. I can no longer customize my themes, they don’t even show up to be customized, both desktop & mobile (none of the buttons work).

    5. Sorry, I forgot to mention that I also cannot seem to edit a post at all, and have it stay formatted properly, it sort of just squishes everything together and removes all the paragraph breaks / spaces.

    Thanks for any help / input / insight you may have. I’m tearing my hair out.

    What have you tried in order to resolve this? Have you tried deactivating all plugins? Does this happen on any other browser?

    Hello Jose,

    I have tried deactivating all the plugins. First in batches, then one-by-one, and nothing seems to work.

    I have used Google Chrome on a Mac, I have tried Safari on a Mac.

    The browser doesn’t seem to be the issue. It seems to be WordPress itself.

    It is almost as if the buttons are missing a link of code to the rest of the pieces, like when I click on a link, I can give a URL to it, but when I try to then go into advanced settings to make it “_target” open in a new window, it just stops.

    Also, I just discovered today that I cannot reply to comments either.

    I click on “reply” and it doesn’t go anywhere, it just stays stuck. I have to reply to comments by going to the actual post itself, logging in as myself, and then typing a reply.

    Update again: I just realized I also cannot add Tags, the button won’t work.
