• this week I moved from one hoster to the other so I zipped the contents and unzipped the contents on the other server as well as a sqlexport import works perfect!

but….. when i try to upload an image i get this strange error now:

“1165.jpg” has failed to upload due to an error
The uploaded file could not be moved to /var/www/sites/XXX.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/8/files/2010/07.

i dont know exactly how to resolve it, the rights on the directories seem to be ok and the directory is also ok.

  • a sqlexport import works perfect!

It sounds like you’ve dumped (exported) your original database and restored (imported) it on the new host without checking whether any of the data held in it needs changed.

Even if the domain name is the same, the directory structure may vary, in which case any references to the old path in the database will need to be changed before the import.

Have a look at this post.

The problem was that the blogs directory was owner by the root user and not the apache user who wants to write in the dir.

So I chowned the owner/group of the dirs and… it worked.
