    Hi All,

I have a local wordpress setup using XAMPP on my OS Lion for Mac.

Unfortunately it is having issues when I try to “Add New” Media. When I search my documents and select the image I want to add, I get a “The uploaded file could not be moved to..’file location'” error and does not upload (even if I manually create that file and drag and drop it in).

I believe this may have to do with the fact that my mac is not allowing my xampp to automatically write to the location folder? Is this the case and is there a workaround for this?

    I appreciate the help!

  • make your uploads folder under wp-content writable.

There can be permission problem. Give permissions to upload folder.

Hi, i got the same problem.

“f17689_svlg_a0.jpg” has failed to upload due to an error
The uploaded file could not be moved to /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/htdocs/shop/wp-content/uploads/2012/10.

Any advice would be appreciated ??

    Hi,
I can’t upload anything to locally installed site. I’ve read a bit about ‘permissions’; but have no idea how to change permissions. Tried doing it with “get Info”, didn’t work.
GoDaddy had fixed this for their WordPress sites(which I’m using for my client).

But I can’t figure out the fix on my MAMP Pro install on my Mac.
Here’s the message at any upload attempt:
The uploaded file could not be moved to /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/dev.figliedifortuna.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10.

This seems to be a common problem. Please help, I’m new to WP.
    Thank you.

    For you Mac users:
type man chmod in terminal… It’ll tell you how to do it.

Since you’re using it localhost (no worries about security) change it to chmod 777 (everyone read, write and edit perms).
