Cannot Update Nexgen Gallery and Nimbus Simple Theme

For the past month I have tried to update my theme and several plugins. The plugin NextGen Gallery will “update” and vanish from the updates panel to then reappear unchanged a minute or two later. The Nimbus WP Simple theme does the same thing.

I have tried deactivating my plugins and reactivating them with no success and I did troubleshooting with Bluehost, my hosting service. They could not figure out what was going wrong. I also attempted to manually reinstall wordpress and it too did not respond.

Here’s a list of the current updates I am having trouble with:
