• Hi all,
I recently logged in to my dashboard and tried to upgrade from 4.6 to 4.6.1 by clicking ‘update now’.
When I do I get the following message; Download failed.: Response could not be parsed

    Installation Failed

I disabled all plugins, switched to the Twenty-Sixteen theme and retried but the same thing happened.

I also notice that I cannot search for either new plugins or new themes.
When I go to the ‘add plugins’ page, I get the following message; An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with www.remarpro.com or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums.

Furthermore, I notice that BackupWordpress will not complete a backup.

I am afraid I did not install on the server(a friend did it for me) as I am not versed in FTP etc.

    Can anyone offer some suggestions?
    Many thanks in advance

  • Hi John,

I’ve done a little research on your problem and it looks like your best bet is to manually update your WordPress files.

Let us know if this doesn’t solve your problem.

    Thank you Rob,
I will have to ask my friend if he can do that for me as I don’t know anything about the FTP side of things and it is his server subscription so he has all the passwords etc.
Is this a known WP problem or specific to my site or server etc?
    Many thanks again

You’ll need to contact your hosting provider about this.

    Hi John,

Has your friend managed to fixed the problem?

I’m not sure that it’s a WordPress issue, as Tara pointed out, it might be an issue on your server but I think the best is to do a manual updated and see if that fixes the problem.

    Cheers,

    Rob
