• I’m trying to update to WordPress 3.8.1 but each time I get this message:

The update cannot be installed because we will be unable to copy some files. This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions.: wp-admin/js/revisions.min.js, wp-admin/js/revisions.js, wp-admin/includes/class-wp-upgrader-skins.php, wp-includes/js/heartbeat.min.js, wp-includes/js/wp-auth-check.min.js, wp-includes/js/zxcvbn.min.js, wp-includes/js/wp-auth-check.js, wp-includes/js/mediaelement/wp-mediaelement.js, wp-includes/js/heartbeat.js, wp-includes/js/zxcvbn-async.js, wp-includes/js/wp-util.js, wp-includes/css/wp-auth-check.min.css, wp-includes/css/wp-auth-check.css, wp-includes/date.php, wp-includes/post-formats.php Installation Failed

    Any suggestions?

  • The directories containing files with permission issues seem to be /wp-admin, and /wp-includes. It appears that the files named are not writable by the account the web server is running as. Your host may be able to answer questions related to proper permission schemes for your particular environment.
