Cannot unzip backup file

  • Hi,

    I backed up my website using your plugin last week, as I was moving my site from one domain name to another, on a different server. For some reason, I cannot unzip the file or upload it to Filezilla.

    When I try to extract it, I get this error message:

    Windows cannot open this folder. the compressed (zipped) Folder ‘C:\\Users\Admin\Documents\ConciergeConnections\Wordpress\wordpress3.8\WPOnlineBackip_27_02_2014.zip’ is invalid.

    And when I click ‘ok’, it tells me Windows cannot complete the extraction.

    Maybe it is murphys law, as I am able to unzip all other folders, including one of my site from 8 days earlier – unfortunately, I made a lot of changes in those 8 days though.

    Does anyone know why it won’t unzip? Or how I can still use it to get my site back?

  • Sounds like the zip is corrupt.

    No, that website doesn’t exist anymore.

    I assumed that the zip file would be okay when I told my hosting provider it was okay to transfer the hosting to a new domain name ??

    Btw, what causes a zip file to corrupt?

    I do have another backup from about a week earlier. I made a lot of changes to the site in those 7 or 8 days, but it is better than nothing I guess.

    Unfortunately though when I uploaded the older backup to my FTP, it did not recognise my pages, posts, images or products. Do you happen to know why? Or where I can find them?
