Cannot understand category structure

Hello,
have a category “Cat” with 2 subcategories “CatSub1” and “CatSub2”. FrontPage is category “Cat”. FrontPage/Subpage1 is subcategory “CatSub1″and FrontPage/Subpage2 is subcategory “CatSub2”.
Now clicking on “Cat” shows up the excerpt of FrontPage, FrontPage/Subpage1
and FrontPage/Subpage2 on the same level or same category page.
Cannot see and understand the category structure on the category page.
But “Cat” is not the same like “CatSub1” and “CatSub2”.
