I have been trying to subscribe using the Jetpack subscription widget. I can subscribe using some gmail accounts I have. But my main work email will not let me subscribe. This is a multisite/network instance
    Site: https://blogs.colgate.edu/salvage-exchange/

I receive this message when I submit:

The email address has opted out of subscription emails.

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

Could you go to this page, and make sure you didn’t block us from sending you emails?
    https://subscribe.wordpress.com/?option=settings

If that doesn’t help, could you send us an email using this contact form, and let us know what email address you’re having trouble with, so we can take a closer look?

    Thanks!

    Hello,
    The same issue I am getting. When I entered an email address subscribe widget it says;
The email address has opted out of subscription emails.
You can manage your preferences at subscribe.wordpress.com

    Please assist.

    Hello,
This issue is with my follower, if I enter his/her email, the info will go to his inbox. How will I know?
So many followers are complaining me that when they enter their email address in the subscription box, it says “opted-out……………”

Please suggest the resolution for this issue.
    Thanks,

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

You could suggest that they go to the following URL to manage their subscription settings, and opt back in to receive WordPress.com emails:
    https://subscribe.wordpress.com/?option=settings

I am having the same problem when try to sign up with my own email (I am already subscribed). It tells me that I have opted out. When I go to the my subscription page, it clearly shows that I am in fact subscribed. Is this just an error of the check of which state I’m in (already subscribed vs opted out)?

@donnalgresh Could you follow the instructions I posted above to check if you blocked emails from WordPress.com? If you didn’t, could you use the link I posted above to contact us and give us more details about your site and your email address?

    Thanks!

I submitted something on the contact form. Still not working properly; I AM subscribed, but am getting a message about having blocked all subscriptions. So it seems that the system “works” but is issuing a misleading message. If I unsubscribe, I can successfully re-subscribe. When I try to subscribe again, I am told I have blocked all subscriptions again.

Exactly the same problem here as well.
How can we solve the issue?

@jeremy, thanks for your quick reply! Just sent an email to support.
    Cheers!

I got this message in April; my assumption is that the bug is not yet fixed

This is a known bug, that the incorrect message will appear when you attempt to subscribe, but are already subscribed.

It will be corrected in a future release of Jetpack.

Thanks for bringing it to our attention. If you’d like to follow along with the bug report, you can see it on GitHub where we track Jetpack’s issues and improvements:

    Thanks,
    Lisa
