cannot show page excerpts?

    Jack, please download and install this test version (identical to 2.3.3, except that I updated the excerpt part). Let me know if it fixes the issue, please.

    Hector, did you make changes only to wordpress-popular-posts.php?

    Reason I asked is because I modified wordpress-popular-posts.php slightly for some CSS stuff. If you updated only this file, I will do a file compare to see where the changes are and manually make the changes to my existing wordpress-popular-posts.php.

    Yes, I noticed your changes to the HTML structure ?? You no longer need to edit the php file for that since the Custom HTML Markup has been upgraded ?? (check the FAQ and on Settings > WordPress Popular Posts > FAQ for more).

    And to answer your question: yes, I only modified the php file.

    I have made the changes but the stats for the site seems to have changed and pages are no longer the most popular the last 2 days. So I cannot tell if it is working alright.

    But what I am seeing in terms of popular posts shown now is not the same as what is shown in my jetpack stats.

    Hi Jack,

    I made a few changes to the plugin in the last hours, if you downloaded the development version of the plugin everything should be fine. Otherwise, please wait a bit while I upload a new version of the plugin.

    Just checked your site again and saw that excerpts are working as expected, so I’m going to mark this as resolved.

    Actually those 3 links that you see are all posts, not pages. So I cannot tell if it has been fixed.

    Don’t worry, the plugin also checks for content if no excerpt is found so it should still display some text (except if the post/page content consists only of embedded videos, flash objects and similar stuff – these get stripped out by the plugin while building the custom excerpt).

    Jack, your coment about the listing not showing pages got me thinking and made me go through the code once again. Made some tests and found that pages were not displaying in the stats either, so looks like we have a new bug.

    Please download v2.3.5 (which includes additional fixes) and let me know how it works.

    Hi Hector,

    Sorry for late reply. I updated to 2.3.5 today. Cannot tell if there is anything wrong because the top 3 popular posts are all posts. There is no page.

    Ever since I updated the plugin from the previous 2 versions (I think), the data collected does not look right. What is shown right now as the 3 most popular posts happens to be the latest 3 postings (until I posted a new posting a few hours ago) that I posted.

    The data (views per day) is heavily skewed towards those 3 postings. A 4th post that I just posted 3 hours ago is now already the 4th highest views for today. This seems highly unlikely.

    Hi Hector,

    The data for most popular posts/pages is somehow based on the latest posts.

    Whatever is the 3 latest posts will become the 3 most popular posts.

    Do you have any idea why?
