I have UpDraftPlus running on at least a dozen client sites and this is a new problem for me. New install of WordPress, working on a new site, I installed the free version of UpDraftPlus without a problem. When I click the link in Settings to authenticate the connection with DropBox, this is the error message I get:

Fatal error: Call to a member function get_error_code() on boolean in /home/content/a2pewpnas01_data03/81/3967881/html/wp-content/plugins/updraftplus/methods/backup-module.php on line 286

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling UpdraftPlus, but to no avail.

    Help????

    thank you.

    Hi,

Please can you update to the just-release UpdraftPlus 1.12.38 and try again? This should work now.

Ok, I updated UpdraftPlus, re-selected Dropbox, hit save, but now I don’t see the link to click to authenticate the DropBox account. How will it know where to upload files? I’m also not seeing the Account Holder’s Name line as in my other site accounts.

I had a similar problem. I have the 1.12.38 version, but I’m still getting an error when I try to link Dropbox with UpdraftPlus:

dropbox error: set_options() requires an instance ID, but was called without setting one (either directly or via set_instance_id()) (0) (Apr 01 05:43:40)

    Hi,
    I have the same problem.
All was working fine until the last 2 releases.
    it all started withe this:
    https://content.screencast.com/users/yossikay/folders/Jing/media/67de4f22-7ee3-4bd4-a56c-db213efcf6af/backup%201.png
I’ve decided to un-install and the folder was removed from the plugins directory:

Once I’ve installed again I can see that message and I have no option to re-authenticate:

I’m having the same issue with Dropbox v1.12.38. I select Dropbox as my destination and am not getting a link to authorise/connect.

    Hi,

Is someone able to send me login details for a WP install I can test this on? None of us have able to reproduce this problem. If you could send me WP and FTP login details to – [email protected] – then I will treat this as high priority.

    Hi all,

We’ve tracked down this problem now, which was a bit subtle.

A 1.12.39 release is now making its way up to www.remarpro.com. Please update as soon as you see it available on your ‘Updates’ page.

On an install which has already had this problem, you will likely need to wipe your settings. To do this, go to the ‘Advanced Tools’ tab, and choose the “Wipe Settings” option, and press the “Wipe Settings” button.

Thank you to those who reported this.

Actually, you may not need to wipe settings before Dropbox re-appears – I’ve just added a tweak to the 1.12.39 download to hopefully avoid this.

Resolved after remove, re-install 1.12.39, clear setup.

Thank you for your very quick attention to this problem. I was able to update and get everything working again on this new site. I did end up having to wipe settings and re-set them, because the next scheduled backup had been for yesterday (passed) and that was the only way I knew to get the auto backups started again.

I checked in on a couple of my other client sites (not new sites), and it looks like the ones that I had updated past .35 in the last few days also had this issue — auto backups had ceased — so I’ll be going through and wiping settings and re-authenticating and setting them back up… unless there’s an easier fix to this.

Again, I really appreciate this getting fixed sooner than later!

Thanks for the feedback from those confirming that .39 resolves the Dropbox issue.

@asnewton – can you open a new thread about the scheduled backups? I can’t reproduce that. I got a fresh WP install, installed .34, set up Dropbox, set up a scheduled backup, and then updated it to .37. I then waited for the scheduled backup to run, and it ran without problems. So if you’re seeing something different, please open a new thread with maximum details so that we can take a look.

    Hi David,

Thank you for getting a fix for this so quickly. This is now working for me after updating and wiping the settings. I’ll be a premium users within the next couple of weeks!
