I have checked, and supposedly the GD and FreeType PHP libraries are already enabled. The first problem I see is that the way to install or check this as listed on your Captcha page does not even work. There is no “Settings > Miscellaneous (Settings > Media if you use WordPress 3.0 or higher) menu, and check the setting for Store uploads in this folder field”. The plugin is activated and everything. Please help. I’m being inundated with spam. Website: https://www.mscheevious.com Thanks!

In which page do you use CAPTCHA?

    On my contact page.

    There isn’t a CAPTCHA there.

I know. I installed the plugin, but it is not working. I don’t see anything or any place to initialize or whatever. It is activated but that’s it. I don’t know the next step.

I’ve followed the instructions but as I mentioned even the contact form 7 instructions aren’t lining up with what I am seeing on my general settings or under setting>media either.

I guess you haven’t seen this yet: CAPTCHA

Yes – I’ve seen it. I got stuck on the very first thing, which said to go to settings>media and make sure the folder is correct. It doesn’t show anything this page tells me it will.. and there is no folder options on the Settings > Media page.

But after that point, I still am not clear as to how to set up the captcha on my contact form. It’s not in plain english.

I still haven’t received an answer to this. I read the CAPTCHA page, but it does not address how to get the Captcha into the contact form. I already have received word from my host that the GD and FreeType PHP libraries are installed and enabled, but there is no further instruction??? How do I get it into the form itself?

    Thread Starter lisajeydavis

    (@lisajeydavis)

Okay – let me revise that… It says that we need to utilize captchac and catcher form tags.

I have no idea how to do this and incorporate it? Do I just put copy the source on the bottom of the page to the contact form’s page?

Just want you to know that I got an answer to this from another plugin site – my blog’s security company. I thought maybe the security plugin was interfering with this Real Simple Captcha plugin – but no. They got it to work. It would be VERY HELPFUL if your captcha support page included the instructions THIS PERSON gave me. Because your instructions simply never address this!

Here is what the other guy said. I was able to follow these instructions and it worked MAGNIFICENTLY:

Tested and it works for me, but I have to say it took me a really long time to figure out how this plugin is supposed to work since there is no help information and the plugin’s support area does not really state what you are supposed to do to use this plugin. I installed Contact Form 7 since the Really Simple Captcha plugin works with other Contact Form plugins and is specifically designed to work for Contact Form 7 since the plugin author has created both of these plugins.

This may save someone else a lot of time wandering around looking for help that does not exist anywhere that I could find help/it.

    1. Install Contact Form 7.
    2. Click the Add New link to create a new form.
    3. Click the Generate Tag button to create the Captcha shortcode/code.
    4. Copy that captcha shortcode / code to your Form editing window.
    5. Click the Save button to save the code.

The captcha shortcode/code will look similar to this code below.

    [captchac captcha-897 size:l]
    [captchar captcha-897]
