In my WP admin I am simply updating some text on our about page:
    https://justwander.in/about/

I am using BeTheme which has their beBuilder editor but when I click the “Update” button, nothing happens and stays in constant hourglass not saving changes.

I found this article on BeTheme’s website:
    https://www.betheme.com/tutorial/page-changes-updates-not-saving/

My Web Host said, “increased the ‘max_input_vars’ to 10000 as instructed however that does not appear to have resolve the issue… it seems that the ‘admin-ajax.php’ script is getting a 403 response due to a security rule of your WordFence plugin”

I have deactivated Wordfence and my site is working.

Is there steps to take to update the admin-ajax.php so I can reactivate WordFence again?

Hi @jwmaya, thanks for your detailed message.

It seems with the 403 and failed update that the editor plugin is causing a false-positive.

You can identify the cause by looking at the records that match the timestamp(s) when you were blocked in your Live Traffic page. When clicking any block line (or “eye” icon) to expand it, it will state the reason in red text. Sometimes you’ll see an “ADD PARAM TO FIREWALL ALLOWLIST” button here which you can click to allow these types of request in future.

Failing that, Learning Mode can help allow normal operations if they’re being blocked. From the Wordfence Dashboard click on Manage WAF. Then you will see Basic Firewall Options > Web Application Firewall Status. Change the option to Learning Mode. Try editing your page again to teach Wordfence these are normal operations and should be allowed in future. After you are satisfied you’ve done that, switch the WAF from Learning Mode back to Enabled and Protecting.

    Thanks,
    Peter.
