Are you sure that you can run php on your webhost?

Try just accessing your domain, and see if you get redirected automatically to the install page.

have to say that I’ve tried a few things and can’t seem to find it on the server at all. can you either FTP to your site, or look in your control panel to see where it actually installed?

Facebook Layouts – I FTPd to the root directory

Rich – gladly. are you talking about the Laughing Squid (hosting) control panel or the myphpAdmin control panel. Have access to both. Also not sure how to see where it actually installed so I can tell you. the index.php is in 2 places that I see. There is one on the root directory and one in wp-admin folder. If you can tell me where to get this info for you I will. Thanks for your help so far ??

I tried uploading a basic html file to the root diirectory charlene.html and couldn’t get to that as well.

I think Rich is referring to the hosting control panel.

Just to clarify, it looks like you may have installed the files in the root directory instead of the web root directory (which is unfortunately referred to as the root directory by just about everyone, including myself).

The web root directory is typically called /public_html/, /public/, /html/, /web/, /www/, or /content/ and the root directory is the directory above that which is not accessible via your domain.

If you installed the files in the actual root directory, just copy them over to the web root directory.

James that is what I did. I installed the files in the root directory instead of the web root directory. I will transfer and try again.

James – so I moved all the WP files to /web/ but still NOGO ??

None of the key WordPress files are showing at your domain yet. Perhaps that isn’t their web root directory, or perhaps your domain isn’t mapped to the directory?

I recommend contacting Laughing Squid’s support department about this.

Update: It looks like your web root directory is actually /web/content/
