Restoration process can stall/halt depending upon the total backup size and available server configuration, PHP timeouts can stall/halt the restoration process.

If you are trying to restore all backup sets at once, instead I’ll suggest you to restore each backup set one by one i.e. First restore Plugins > Themes > Uploads > Others and at the end restore the database.

Let us know if above method helps to fix the issue.

    Thanks,

I tried earlier with only plugins only yes it may be server but I had waited quite long close to 4 hours what you suggest if its a successful backup should I keep the system with browser on and hope it will comfortably work? or if browser is closed also the restoration will work

Don’t clone the browser, when restoration process is in progress otherwise restoration process may stop.

Did you try the method in my previous reply?

    Thanks,

Yes I already mentioned even when trying to onl restore parts like plugins etc it takes long time so should I keep it idle as I have no clue if the process is working or not

    Hi,

Can you please send us a copy of the restoration log?
You can find this log in the ‘wp-content/updraft’ directory of your site via FTP.
Please use an online service such as Dropbox or Pastebin, and post the link here.

    Regards,

    Hello,

I tried restoring my site 2 days ago, and it is still stuck on verifying.
How do I cancel a restoration, once started?
Can I just close the browser window, or deactivate the plugin?

    Here is log file…

Hey, I have the same problem stuck on ‘verifying’. I left it running for many hours (6+) but nothing happened. I tried the next day with plugins only and same problem, and various different backups to no avail. Could you advise what I should/could do please? Thanks.

My problems started when I moved from wordpress 5.4 to 5.5.
several plugins stopped working including stripe which processes $ payments.
So I decided to restore to previous version.
However, the updraft plus plug is was one of the ones that did not work with 5.5 for me… so it stalled at verify.

I asked tech support at my web host to verify that the restoration has not really started and that it would be safe to terminate the restore. Then I had the host re-install the previous WordPress version, and everything started working fine, including stripe.

From this I learned that you should wait a few months before upgrading to new wordpress version to give plug in developers time to adapt their software.

Not sure if this is the same problem that you are having, but maybe it will help. Best of luck to you.

Thank you for this information. I will try it and hope it resolves the problem.

    Tweetytwoo,
let me know if this works for you or not. Thanks.

trying to restore to latest backup, because my banner disappeared on home page after last update. The backup Restoration process is stuck on (verifying) for several hrs now.

I don’t know what to do. This is my second attempt. I did try to update just Plugins prior to this on the first time and it did the same ( was stuck on verifying for several hours) so i exited out of that one and that backup disappeared from my storage.
This is my second backup and I’m afraid to back out of this one and lose this one too.

    Please help!!!

    Ela,

I am so sorry to hear that you are having the same problem that I had last week.

What version on WP are you using? Have you updated to the latest version recently?

    Ela,

I just reread your msg, and see that you recently updated. Assuming that you are referring to updating to the newest version of WP, that is probably the problem. The new wp may not be compatible with the Updraftplus software. If this is the case, contact your web host to see if they have a recent copy of your site saved (many do this for their customers, but may not advertise this), and if so, ask them to re-install the previous WP software. That may well take care of your banner and the updraft plus restoration issues. If they do not have a version, ask them if there is any way to see how far the updraft plus software got before it crashed. In my case, it had not changed any files yet, so when the replaced the WP with the older version, all of my problems (slider, stripe payments) that were not working started working again, and I did not even have to use their back up.

As a rule, it is usually better to wait a little while before installing new versions of operating systems. It takes time for plug-in developers to discover and fix problems.

I think I’ve got the same issue here. I backed up this morning, upgraded wordpress and now have issues which require a restoration from my backup.

I’m needing to roll back my WP it seems, but how do I know which version I roll back to?
