Cannot resize images in my posts and/or pages

  • I really need some help. I’m new to WordPress and have been having problems inserting images into my posts and/or pages.

    At present I can only insert images at full size. The three remaining options – thumbnail, medium and large – are not available to me. They are there when I upload the image but I cannot select them for some reason.

    I have spoken to my friend whose server my site is hosted on and he told me he does have GD Support, which should allow me to change the size of an image when I insert it into a post/page.

    I was using a paid theme called WordPress for Writers and switched to Twenty Twelve to see if it was a theme issue, but I still wasn’t able to access the different image sizes. I’m using another free theme called Brunelleschi. No luck here either with changing image size.

    If I asked my friend to reinstall my wordpress site on his server would this fix the problem?

    I’m at a loss as to what I should do. My site is: notquitethere.org

    Would really appreciate some feedback.

  • I’m guessing the pictures you uploaded are smaller than the sizes specified in Settings > Media which contains the different dimensions for your images. I tried to insert an image on my blog and had the same problem, but it was smaller than the settings on my blog, so those options weren’t available. I inserted it then clicked the edit icon in the upper left after inserting. I changed the image size this way by choosing a percentage of the original size and had no problem.

    Thanks for your help I have been able to upload my images into my posts and have even been able to upload a new header image.

    Really, really appreciate your help. This had been driving me bonkers!!!
