I noticed today that one of my sites was not loading Google Site Kit and as I looked into that I realized Jetpack was also displaying an error. I tried enabling xml-rpc in my security plugin and allowing all the wordpress.com IP addresses. Still no luck. Finally, turned off my security plugin to see if caching was the problem. Cleared all caches.

Every time I try to connect to Jetpack I get the vague “an error occurred” but in Site Health it says, “Error Blog token validation failed.”

I have seven other sites that are using the same set up and Jetpack works fine on those currently. I’m mostly only using Jetpack for the image CDN and optimization.

    Hey there,

It looks like you were able to get Jetpack connected. Although Jetpack is now connected, it looks like there is a small issue with the Jetpack connection due to what we call an identity crisis. Jetpack isn’t sure whether your site URL is https://www.ece.udel.edu or live-udece.pantheonsite.io.

Is live-udece.pantheonsite.io a staging/development site? I’m guessing not since it has live in the URL, but If so, can you please make sure it has been placed into staging mode following these instructions:

    https://jetpack.com/support/staging-sites

Otherwise, I’d suggest hard-coding your site’s URL into your site’s wp-config.php file and see if that helps. You can follow the instructions here to do that:

    https://jetpack.com/support/getting-started-with-jetpack/fixing-jetpack-connection-issues/resolving-jetpack-connection-issues-caused-by-dynamic-site-urls/

After that is done, you can let us know and we can have a look at the current status of the connection.

    Thanks!

Hello – wondering if I might have the same issue re: Jetpack not being sure what my site’s URL is (kidscreen.com). I had cloned the site for testing purposes at which point I received a note indicating the Jetpack was installed on duplicate sites. Now I cannot connect the site to Jetpack on kidscreen.com (always get the ‘An error occurred, please try again message), though I can connect the cloned site to Jetpack. My wp-config.php file currently doesn’t have definitions for WP_SITEURL and WP_HOME as adding those caused the site not to work (couldn’t access the wp login page for instance).

    Hi @fquadri,

The situation on your site is a little different. I’ve made a change on our end so that you should be able to reconnect Jetpack. Please give it another try and see how it goes.

If you still need help, please open a new forum thread so we can assist you further. Thanks!

    Hi Kellie,

It does work now, thank you! I’m having the same issue with another one of our sites, strategyonline.ca. Are you able to check that one out? Happy to open another thread if that’s what I need to do.

    Thanks.
