We recently made this site “live” though it is still a work in progress:

    https://newleaderdevelopment.com/

All seems fine except now after making some minor edits to a page, when I click “PREVIEW” I am presented with the message:

“You do not have permission to preview drafts.”

What’s going on? This only happened after making the site live (i.e. getting to the site via the domain name, vs the IP address)

    Thanks for any suggestions!

    Anybody out there?

My hunch is it has something to do with the WP settings. We installed WP in the root directory and have been working on the site from here:

    50.87.248.55/~newlead3/

When finished, we “pointed” the domain name to this host, and within the WP settings we replaced “Site Address” with https://newleaderdevelopment.com/ while leaving “WordPress Address” as the IP address.

Might that have something to do with the “Preview ” feature suddenly not working??

Your hunch is correct, I suspect. Your setup means that WordPress won’t recognise that you’re a logged-in user when you preview the draft. And as logged-in users don’t have permission to view drafts, that means you get the error message.

OK – thank you! I’m not sure what I need to do though!? The WP install is already in the ROOT folder, should I not have entered the domain name into “Site Address” and instead just left the IP address there for BOTH the “site” and “wordpress” address??

No, the reverse – use the domain, not the IP address.

OK, will try that — enter the domain name in BOTH fields for “Site Address” as well as for “WordPress Address”.

Thank you soooo much for your help.
