• New installation – I cannot execute the backup. Once I’ve managed to get to the Backup tab without the memory exhaustion error, attempting to run a backup produces “Something went wrong with your backup. It looks like another process might already be trying to backup your database. Please try again in a few minutes. If the problem persists please contact support.”

I found a .lock file in the backup directory, removed it, tried again and continue to get that error. Now no lock file is produced.

  • Had the same issue, tried all options I could find such as folder permissions, re-install, disable other backup programs, change backup folder…. all with no luck.

I have the same problem. And while it is not resolved, I do not dare to updates to WordPress 4.1 and the others…

Goto Settings tab\menu option and in the Global Settings section tick the Disable File Locking checkbox like this:

Disable File Locking [x] Disable File Locking

Turning this option on will prevent errors related to file locking however might result in operations being executed twice. We do not recommend turning this off unless your host prevents the file locking feature from working correctly.

    Then retry making a backup.
