My site has been processing payments via the WooCommerce PayPal Checkout Gateway plugin for several years. I would like to switch to this new plugin, but cannot get it to connect properly to PayPal. When I try to sign in, a message very quickly flashes on the PayPal side (possibly just saying I already have an account? it goes by too fast to read), then I enter my password and get what looks like a success screen from PayPal (green checkmark). But nothing is transferred back to WooCommerce, so the plugin still tells me I need to onboard. I’m doing this in a copy of my site that I set up via the WP Staging plugin, which is the process I follow every month in order to test updates before implementing them live. I am able to process payments in the test site via the old plugin without any problem. I do deactivate the old plugin before activating this new one. I suspect the onboarding issue relates to already being connected to PayPal via the old plugin despite it being deactivated, or maybe because the old plugin’s connection is still up on the live site while I’m trying to test this new plugin on my copy site? Any help is appreciated. I’m not a developer, so I need a way to try out this plugin without disabling the one I’m currently using on my live site before I’m sure I’m ready to switch over.

    Hi @rvpublish,

If you have many PayPal plugins active at once, then some scripts may not load properly in the checkout. But the onboarding itself should not be impacted by other PayPal plugins. In the backend, everything should work properly though and we have not yet received any reports about issues with the onboarding.

Have you only tried connecting your live PayPal account or did you also try to connect to the PayPal sandbox?
    https://developer.paypal.com/docs/api-basics/sandbox/accounts/#create-and-manage-sandbox-accounts
The onboarding to the sandbox may fail sometimes and has to be done a second time when you get the message that it could not be completed, but this should not be the case with live accounts.
In any case, what happens if you repeat the onboarding a second time afterward?
    The same result as before?

    Kind regards,
    Niklas

I do not have multiple payment plugins active at once. I disable the Checkout Gateway plugin before activating this new plugin.

I am trying to connect to my live PayPal account.

Today I tried to onboard twice with the same failure. Last month I tried to onboard several times, also with the same failure.

We would like to take a closer look at this behavior.

Went back and tried again so that settings would be accurate for the system report. This time clicked the return button from the PayPal side (rather than just closing the popup window) and did get something back on the WooCommerce side, but only the Merchant ID. Client Id and Secret Key were not returned. Error message appeared saying “We could not complete the onboarding process. Some features, such as card processing, will not be available. To fix this, please try again.” I then tried again as instructed with the exact same result. I will include this info in my support ticket.

Cannot Onboard. I have used PayPal Standard for years, but attempting a live environment setup of Paypal Checkout, the PayPal card processing page in my admin console has the following error:
Credit Card processing for your account has not yet been activated by PayPal. If your account is new, this can take some days. Otherwise, please get in contact with PayPal.

The Paypal button on the live website gives this fails to load the secure PayPal browser window.
In the shopping cart, I receive this error:

‘Something went wrong error. Please try again or select another payment source’

    Hello @z8eldred,

thank you for contacting us. Did you already contact PayPal too? Unfortunately, we do not have any access to a PayPal account and cannot have a look at the progress of credit card processing.

I would recommend contacting PayPal directly to get an update on this.
Also, be aware of the difference between the buyer and seller account of PayPal; make sure your Paypal account has been set up to receive payments.

I hope this helps you further.
    Kind regards,
    Joost

    Did you found a solution?
