Cannot modify header information

  • I have been away and since I got back I have several problems on my website and I have no idea what has gone wrong.

    Firstly, on pages I am getting the following error:
    Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/rebe3091/public_html/index.php:2) in /home/rebe3091/public_html/wp-includes/pluggable-functions.php on line 269

    Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/rebe3091/public_html/index.php:2) in /home/rebe3091/public_html/wp-content/plugins/redirectify.php on line 52

    Secondly, my sidebar has placed itself below all posts instead of to the right.

    I tried switching themes but still get the above error, also other themes are putting the sidebar below the posts although not all are.

    PLease can anyone advise on both matters?

  • 1) Check out the FAQ on teh subject and see if that helps.

    2) Would probably have to see the site (and know which browser you’re using as well) to see what may be the cause. It could be a number of things.

    Using Firefox and IE7 (all was well last week)

    With regards to the error message, it seems like the plugin “redirectify” is the problem although I have no idea why its now playing up, its been working for months now.
    If I disable the plugin, there is no error, but obviously no content within the pages as the plugin is not there.

    Not sure what to do.

    Update, I have managed to recover the sidebar. For some reason the last entry had knocked the sidebar off. Not sure why it did that.

    Still stumped on the error though if anyone can help. I opened the file with notepad and the php tags are in tact. Is there any way to see which is line 269 without manually counting them all?

    I was thinking it had something to do with that “Welcome to 2007” post since it was 404ing but, now that it’s gone, it looks like things are working for you now.

    I reposted it using windows live writer and it seems okay now.
    I sometimes get problems posting using the admin page, I might stick to live writer from now on.
