Cannot Mark Virtual “On Hold” Orders Complete

Hello,

I am using a custom build payment processor plugin and when I have a virtual product in the order, the order will be marked as On-Hold, even though a payment has been completed and is shown in the header of the order page. Additionally I cannot mark the order complete manually, or through code. It always defaults back to the On-Hold status.

Is there anything that I can do in my payment processor, completion hooks etc to fix this issue? I am NOT looking for an additional plugin to be installed to update this.

Edit: I did notice that if you mark the product as downloadable as well as virtual then it works, however because of another plugin I’m using I cannot mark the product as downloadable.
