cannot make my homepage to load

    I use a custom theme (works with other sites OK) but cannot make it load my homepage on a new installed site.
    My posts and pages look OK based on the set-up. However the home page in WordPress cannot switch between the text and HTML code when changing tabs. I also pasted manually the HTML codes for that page;did the same thing in the HTML folder in c_panel. still cannot make it work. May be a PHP file or code somewhere got corrupted? or an index?
    Please help;I am new to WordPress.Thanks
