Cannot Login with correct username and password

  • Yesterday I was having trouble logging into my WordPress site. I put in the correct login credentials and the wp-login.php just reloads itself, keeping the user name but the password field is blank. I tried the Forgot Password and reset that, still no luck. I noticed that putting in an incorrect password would bring up the “Incorrect username or password” prompt, but the correct password would just reload the page. After about 15 attempts yesterday of just pasting my password in, I was finally able to log in. This morning I have tried about 50 times and have had no luck logging in whatsoever. PLEASE someone help me, this is becoming extremely frustrating, especially since I can’t just CALL WORDPRESS and see what exactly the problem is — instead, I have to hope experienced WordPress users are reading this and will know the solution to my problem. I’ve been using WordPress for 2 years now, and have never had such a hard time as I am currently.

  • Try:
    – switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    Why are you using an old copy of WordPress? Were you aware that your site is currently running a very real risk of being hacked. You need to upgrade WordPress asap.

    I’m using the second to latest version of WordPress… 3.5.1 and the newest is 3.5.2

    Why aren’t you running 3.5.2?

    Because it’s what I downloaded from www.remarpro.com only 2 days ago. I build websites so I always download the wordpress file so I get the latest version..and that is what was downloaded. It’s only been out for a week or so and you act like I’m still running 1.0. But currently I am installing the update through FTP, and will try renaming my theme.

    Sorry but that is incorrect. WordPress 3.5.2 was released 8 days ago. You could not possibly have downloaded 3.5.1 2 days ago unless you deliberately went looking for it in the release archive.

    i am having same problem and also unable find themes plugins and networkadmin.php
