Cannot login via wp-admin with my laptop

    Hey guys.

    Something strange started happening on my laptop. Everything was working normally and no changes were applied, but all of the sudden I could not login to wp-admin via my laptop anymore. It just refreshes the page after you login, no error whatsoever.

    What I tried?

    – Checked hosts file, all good
    – Disabled all plugins, switched theme
    – Disabled security plugins
    – Disabled Firewall (Windows 10)
    – Asked host to check if my IP is blocked
    – Changed DNS settings
    – Tried to login with VPN
    – Tried to clear cache/cookies, used other browsers

    I can successfully login with my mobile device (on same network), so I doubt it’s user-related issue. I also don’t see any console errors, so I’m pretty much lost in this.

    I noticed something while editing with Elementor, before the issue started appearing. The console outputted error 400, and I wasn’t able to edit or save. So I assume that the issue started happening while I was actually logged in and editing.

    What could be the issue? Is it possible that there is some sort of hardware ID related issue? Every other device works normally, it’s just my laptop that won’t let me in.

  • I am having exactly the same issues. It took ages to track down the problem, but I also have cPanel/WHM based hosting so I agree that it is related to that. I removed Bitdefender and everything is working again.

    Just wanted to add that I had this issue for 45 days before coming across this post. I knew it had something to do with the July 15 Windows Update, but by the time I figured that out it was too late to uninstall it. I didn’t even know that Windows had BitDefender on, so over the course of several conversations with Bluehost, whenever they asked if I had antivirus software, I’d say no. Woops! I guess the workaround is finding another antivirus or just turning BitDefender protection off while on WordPress.

    I am so relieved!!
