Yesterday I downloaded and activated the plugin W3 Total Cache.
Today I cannot access my WordPress Admin and my website will not load.

Both issues generate the same error:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected end of file in /home/………

After reading various forum postings, logic says that it’s the plugin that is causing the problem.

Can I go and delete the plugin in my GoDaddy File Manager and expect that the issue might be fixed?

I am a total WordPress newbie.
    Thank you for any assistance.

Yes, change those to twentyfourteen, like this, lowercase, no space.

I renamed the plugins folder but still generating the same error.

That’s why I’m pretty sure it’s the theme.

    Lyle,
I made those changes and presto back up came my WordPress Admin as well as my website.
    THANK YOU!!!

However, the website is a mish mash of html, text, jumbled nav, etc. IOW, it looks like the theme is not being applied.

Any suggestions on how I can properly apply the theme again?
Much appreciate your interest in my issue. I feel so much better this am.

    Lyle,
I am getting this message in my WordPress Admin:

W3 Total Cache Error: some files appear to be missing or out of place. Please re-install plugin or remove /home/debigsmith/public_html/wp-content/advanced-cache.php.

Since I deleted the plugin, I am thinking I should go and delete the file -home/debigsmith/public_html/wp-content/advanced-cache.php

    Would you agree?

Also I need to consider upgrading to the latest version of WordPress as well as the latest version of the Divi theme. Does that make sense?

Thank you again for your feedback.

Yes, I would remove that file so that the plugin is completely removed.

Generally, one should disable any caching plugins or services while actively working on the site.

As for the last point, one should always have the latest updates applied ??

However, make sure to have good backups of both the site files AND the database before doing so.

    Hi Lyle,
    Thanks for the input.
I will take these next steps and report back.
BTW, I am based in SE Asia so that’s why there is a bit of a lag in my follow up.
Again, I am so appreciative of your feedback and advice. The WordPress community is amazing.
    Regards, Headgame.
