About 2 hours ago I discovered I could not login to my site https://www.travelunpacked.co.uk but I could access it as a visitor. It is hosted by Fasthosts and there is no problem there. I then found that I had the same problem with all the other 3 sites I run.
I get the login page, enter the username and password (I double-checked these when I first discovered the problem), when I click login the web page goes blank and stays that way – no error message.
I see that two others are experiencing the same problem so wondered whether it was a WordPress issue.

  • I can access your logon page via https://www.travelunpacked.co.uk/wp-login.php but I am seeing a strange message at the top left of the login page:

    https://www.travelunpacked.co.ukTravel Unpacked

Looks like there’s an issue with the theme or perhaps a plugin. Try:
    – switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

I’d also suggest upgrading to WordPress 3.5.1 as soon as you have access to the site again.

    Thanks
    1. The message in the top left corner has always been there since I upgraded and is also there with all three other sites. It’s there with Firefox and Safari
    2. All sites have a different theme but have the same problem so I don’t think it is a theme issue so will try the plugin reset – all sights have a couple of plugins in common so it would seem most likely
I was about to reset the plugins as suggested but tried to login to the sites once again Login is now working again on all the sites. Not sure what happened or where the problem lay but I am able to access the admin dashboard again.
Thanks for your help and I shall now upgrade to 3.5.1

It shouldn’t be there. There’s definitely a problem on the site somewhere – maybe a plugin.
