After updating JetPack today, my users could not get past the login screen, using correct usernames and passwords (even trying to reset passwords) it would simply reload the login page. Luckily an admin was still signed in and was able to disable JetPack, after which immediately users were able to proceed past the login screen.

Obviously I’d like to have JetPack on the site, so I’m eager to see what the issue was so I can active it again.

Anybody have any similar issues and have a fix?

Really missing a few of the JetPack features we had on our homepage already and would like to get this amended as quickly as possible.

    Hi @tylerarnold23!

Could you post your site URL here, so I can have a look?

If you want it to remain private, you can also contact us via this contact form:
    https://jetpack.me/contact-support/

Or, if you are logged in, and can activate Jetpack again, could you send the debug information before disabling Jetpack again, so we can see more diagnostic information?

To do so, follow these steps:

    1) Go to the Jetpack page in your dashboard.
    2) Click on the Debug link appearing at the bottom of the page.
    3) Click the link that says “click here to contact Jetpack support.”
    4) Fill in the description box and your name and email address.
    5) Click the “Contact Support” button.

    Thanks!

So real quick before I do any of that, thank you for responding, but I got an update to 4.2 today and have since seen nothing on an official release of 4.2. I deleted Jetpack and reinstalled it (to surprise 4.1.1 was the default version) and it seems to have fixed almost all of the issues. Can I still see the debug of all those actions since I have already deleted, reinstalled? Now I’m worried I received a malicious update through Jetpack. Should I still be proceeding in these steps?

Not a malicious update, just an update we released prematurely. It will be available again shortly.

Your experience is not one we’ve experienced in our testing of 4.2 though. Could you still contact us privately so we can look further into it so it doesn’t reoccur for you? Please mention this thread for context:

Absolutely I will do that for you guys! I’ll resolve this for now and hope you can pin point the issue I saw so nobody else sees it live.

hello, i’m getting the same issue, my site is now working again after removing jetpack, is it safe to put it back on?

I was having the same issue as well after installing the new update. Once I disable jetpack; users are able to log in with no issues. I just now uninstalled jetpack and reinstalled it and it appears to be working normally again.

Having the same problem as well. Could not login at all after updating Jetpack yesterday. Kept being presented with the “prove your humanity” option and it was only by deleting the plugin via FTP that I could get back in. Bit frustrating!

Had the exact same problem on https://followthesisters.com this morning. Solved it like this:

    1. Using FileZilla renamed the JetPack plugin folder to jetpack1 to be able to log in.
    2. Deleted the plugin from plugins
    3. Re-intalled it again

It all works like a charm now ??

I have the same problem too. Looks as if it is a bug after the update of the plugin.

Had same issue here.. had to uninstall 4.2 and reinstall 4.1.1

    Hi all!

Anyone who’s had this problem, could you follow the steps above to contact us directly with your debug information. Also helpful if you include a list of your other active plugins.

    Thanks!

    I’m having this problem too…

I can reinstall 4.1.1 (that’s fine) but before I do that, can somebody please let me know if by uninstalling 4.2 I will lose all my settings when I reinstall 4.1.1? For example, we use the “Edit CSS” feature to override CSS. It would be a big problem to lose all of that work.

(FYI – I did contact WP directly about this as well.)

    Hi everyone.

We had exactly the same problem after the Jetpack ‘update’ to 4.2.

It took a while to figure out what was happening but it’s possible that it was a conflict with the W3 Total Cache plugin, because after deactivating W3TC and leaving Jetpack as version 4.2, the login page worked as normal again.

Anyway, I have since reinstalled version 4.1.1 – and won’t update until sure this issue is fixed.

    Thanks.
