Cannot Login after Admin Swap

So this morning I logged into my email to see almost a dozen messages from WordPress, stating our account was locked due to too many login failures. After doing some research, we found that this is common to users with username “admin”, as automated hackers attempt to login using the generic name.
Many forums stated a solution would be to change the username to something more unique. Since WordPress does not allow changing an existing name, the solution many suggested was to create a new admin account and delete the old.
So I did that. Created a new admin account with a unique name, granted an administrative role and deleted the old one. I thought everything went smoothly until I tried logging in to the new admin account. No username/email/password confirmation would work. I know I changed the password, as I got an email notification to confirm it. I also know I changed the email address to the former one, as the temporary email I used to create the new account also received a message to confirm the change.
Now I am essentially locked out of my account/dashboard. When I try to reset the password using “Lost Password”, all I get is an INSTANT error, saying the “Key has expired”.
If anyone has ANY solution or insight on this problem, please share. This is for my business and is very urgent. Thank you!!!
