Cannot Log In To Account – Details Will Not Register

  • Hi,

    We have been logged out of our site and cannot log back in, even though we didn’t change the log in details or alter anything in any way. It won’t even recognise our username as connected to any account.

    The following message appears when trying to log into the back end: “Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.”

    Any attempt to change the password etc. also doesn’t work.

    Any ideas please, as we really need to fix this as soon as possible.

    Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

    If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).
