I am suddenly having a problem installing or upgrading plugins. A message asks if “Is its parent directory writable by the server?”
I have recently moved my sites to a reseller site. I do not know if this is a wordpress problem or a ‘permissions’ problem.
I created a new blog on the reseller account (separate cpanel) and had not problem.
Any thoughts? if someone thinks I need to change permissions someplace, can they tell me where and to what?
    thanks!

  • It’s a permissions problem. Change the permissions on the wp-content/plugins directory to 766. If you still have problems, try 767 or 777.

thanks – my I am unable to change to any ‘6’ for some reason and 777 is not working – it still says it is unable to creat the directory.
I am going to contact Hostgator.

I had used up my allocated space. Gave it more and everything works now.
