• I am so freakin’ frustrated. I have uploaded to 2.8.6. Now I cannot access my old plugins and if I try to upload ANY new plugins, I get this error.

Warning: gzinflate() [function.gzinflate]: data error in /home5/photosd0/public_html/blog/wp-includes/http.php on line 1787

Warning: gzuncompress() [function.gzuncompress]: data error in /home5/photosd0/public_html/blog/wp-includes/http.php on line 1792

I have been searching for an answer to this for a few days now. I would so appreciate any help you could give.

And I have tried to delete the http.php file and put the new version there. no change.

Okay, so I changed my theme because my old theme required some plugins that I cannot get working….but I would really rather use my old theme. Does anyone know why I cannot install ANY plugins with 2.8.6? Still getting the same error with the new theme.

    Questions:
    1. Are your “old” and “new” plugins compatible with 2.8?
    2. What are the plugins you have installed now?
    3. If you use the plugin auto-installer, have you tried to upload via FTP or cpanel?
    4. Are your plugins in primary folder and not nested into another folder
    /pluginname/pluginfile.php – OK
    /pluginname/pluginame/pluginfile.php – bad
    5. What are the names of your themes – “old” and “new”?
    6. Are you on Linux or Windows server?
    7. Do plugins you are trying to install require PHP5 and is your server using PHP5?

    1. Are your “old” and “new” plugins compatible with 2.8? I was using 2.8.4 previously, and all my plugins were working fine.

    2. What are the plugins you have installed now? Right now, just the ones that are in the upgrade to 2.8.6 are on my blog.

    3. If you use the plugin auto-installer, have you tried to upload via FTP or cpanel?

I have, they don’t show up as installed, even if they are in the plugin folder.

    4. Are your plugins in primary folder and not nested into another folder
    /pluginname/pluginfile.php – OK
    /pluginname/pluginame/pluginfile.php – bad
There is no extra bad folder. ??

    5. What are the names of your themes – “old” and “new”?
My old and preferred theme is Tofurious 3 and the new one is the free version Tofurious Soft Tofu 2.1

    6. Are you on Linux or Windows server? Linux

    7. Do plugins you are trying to install require PHP5 and is your server using PHP5? I don’t know about the plugins, but my server is using PHP5

Thanks for trying to help me!!

Just wanted to add…if I SEARCH for a new plugin, I get that warning. SEARCH…not even install. What in the world??

So far, I have installed and am using some WP plugins (that are good to version 2.8 per plugin page) in WPMU 2.9 beta 2 and WP 2.9 beta and they are working well.

How about changing your theme to default theme and then try to install a plugin? It might be the theme you’re using right now or the system just might need to be “jogged” just a little and then go back to your old theme and run Settings > Permalinks.

    I’ll try that. Thanks…

Nope…same old error. This is insane.

Not giving up yet ?? FTP re-upload all WordPress 2.8.6 files and folders to server. Could be some previous file upload incomplete?

I am going to try and re-upgrade. Something is not right obviously. Thank you so much.

I’m going to have to try this all tonight…
