Cannot import unlisted YouTube video

  • I am trying to import YouTube video’s from an unlisted YouTube channel. I have generated a new Google Developer API key associated with my Google/YouTube account and can stream the video from YouTube with no issues. When I copy the URL for the video into a new Video Gallery, the video link is not saved/imported.

    I can reproduce this behavior in both Chrome and IE11 and I do not see any JavaScript errors.

    I suppose you would need to talk to Youtube support since it is their API which is not allowing the access to the video.

    Ok, so help me understand what might be going on with this then. With the same Google Developer API code, I have existing videos that play just fine. If I create a new Gallery, import a link to one of the existing YouTube video’s that play fine, the video imports successfully. However when I try and preview the Gallery and play the video, it gives me an error (An error occurred. Please try again later). The original link to the same video still plays fine (from the other Gallery).

    Ok, so the links that work have a URL that looks like:

    Both play the same video just fine if you copy into a new browser tab, however only the first works within the Gallery

    To have the links appear as URLs and not as videos use the ‘code’ button above to place the tick character before and after the link:

    Normally you need to use the URL to the page of the video on Youtube, not the embedded video format like the URL above.
