Cannot grab a $_GET Variable, Need fresh eyes

    Using if/then statements, but my get variable is NOT being pulled in. I probably overlooked something simple, maybe fresh eyes are all that is needed.

    This is driving me mad. Even though the url link is outputting a example.com/pagename/?section=2 the variable is not being pulled in.

    I simplified the code and removed unnecessary information, please help
