I’ve been trying for several days to get this plugin to work with the WordPress installation at 18millionwomen.ca, but no matter what I do I cannot get the domain 18millionsdefemmes.ca to map to the sub-page 18millionwomen.ca/accueil. This is a very simple install with effectively only two relevant pages, the main home page and its translation in French. I’ve mapped both domains to the root of my WordPress install (CNAME=wordpress-31460-68057-186670.cloudwaysapps.com), but even with this plugin installed and configured with https://www.18millionsdefemmes.ca mapped to ‘/accueil’ – both domains just resolve at the root, 18millionwomen.ca. I tried adding the ‘Servername=HTTP_Host’ line that another post mentions here, but that doesn’t seem to have fixed it. Can you explain what is meant by “This only works if the used theme uses standard WordPress-functions” in your plug-in’s descriptions? Is that just referencing the autogenerated URLs like categories?

    hy,
if it is possible for you, please try to switch to a standard theme like twenty sixteen or twenty seventeen. then we know if the problem is in your theme or not.
please also post a screenshot of your current configuration. by now your french domain does a redirect – i guess this is your current fallback?

    2 tips for later:
    – the www-version of your french domain is not configured. you should always configure both the www subdomain and the main domain.
    – your french version has not declared the language on the page as french.
<html lang="en-US" class="no-js"> – you should work with a multi-language plugin here. i know from wpml that it even lets you choose different domains for different languages. maybe this would be the better plugin in your case.

Thanks, yes I fell back to just redirecting it for now. We’re a small nonprofit and had this site developed for us by someone who unfortunately didn’t use a multi-language plugin. I will clone the site and try using a stock theme to see if that is part of the issue.

    hy,
did you already test it out with another theme or find another solution for your problem?
