Cannot get to Connections Settings

I’m working on a new build for an existing site that uses Connections. I have WordPress 6.0.1 running on PHP 8.1. Connections is the only plugin that is active and I receive the following error when clicking on the settings link (from the plugin page)

Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.

I also do not have Connections showing up in the left-side menu. I’ve tried several things: downgrading PHP, resetting permalinks, checking the .htaccess file and nothing has made a difference. Please help!
