• My blog was working fine for months and now suddenly I get 404 errors where ever I try to go on the blog including admin. (The rest of my website works fine.) I looked at the config file my databases and everything seems right. So I tried a new install in a new directory with a new database. Before I put up the config file I got the WP error message about needing a config file. Once I added the config file I started getting the 404 error. I couldn’t even run install. The weirdest thing is I’m not even getting a WP that it can’t connect to the database. In fact, it doesn’t matter what values I put in the database defines, I still get the 404 error. Any ideas out there?

Actually, this is not a 404 error, it’s just not responding. Basically it’s just die in the middle of what it’s doing and not returning a page or an error.

    Any thoughts – please?

Please, don’t post all around the forum in year old topics that you “have the same problem”. Problems are never the same ??
Stick to this topic of yours.

What did you do BEFORE this blank page happened? Any new plugins, any modifications to your site?
If you didn’t do anything, did you contact your host to see if they had a hardware or software upgrade?

    Sorry, a little desperate here.

We suspect we had a hacker on our site. Seems he tried to put in some redirects. We removed them and we’ve yet to find any other damage.

The thing is, I’ve tried to do a clean install to a new directory and as soon as I create the config (I did it both manually and through the install) the install.php starts returning blanks – as does all other site links. I don’t program PHP (though I do JAVA CGI PERL C++) so I can’t exactly follow the code – yet. (Don’t really want to learn PHP.) It seems like it’s breaking down when it goes to the database, but I’m not getting a “can’t connect” error.

ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks – Robert

One more reason to talk to your host ASAP. Beside asking them about any eventual upgrade on their end.
