Cannot get past step 4?

  • I am having no luck with trying to move my blog from a wordpress.com to a self hosted server. The detail are outlined here:

    But in a nutshell when I try to import the xml file it uploads, then I am prompted to assign a user and the check box for including attachments.

    I check that attachments box because I assume that is the only way to have all the images moved over, but no matter what this step just times out. I get a error saying there was no data available and to try again.

    I have tried the different options of old user, new user, or having the plugin assign a user for the incoming data, but always there same results.

    I would so appreciate any support on this topic. I have been chatting with my server (Media Temple), there is nothing more they can do, the php.ini file is all set to max settings.

    I resolved the issue, there was a link in the xml file that was broken and it stopped the importation process. I removed that one piece and the puzzle worked.
