When I go to my first page, I only see my latest blog. I do not see my categories and pages nor my post links there. If I do a search on one of the page keywords, I can get to each individual page though. What may be wrong with my setup?

    Thanks,
    Payam

  • Change themes to the WordPress Default Theme. Do you see categories and pages in the sidebar there?

Theme authors many times, use the template tag, wp_list_categories(), and wp_list_pages(), to display categories and pages. You can also use the Category and Page widgets.

Michael–My categories are also not showing up on either my theme or the default. I;ve spent over an hour searching for an answer for this to no avail. It seems easy enough to add them–just not showing up.
One post mentioned they may not appear if there is not a post assigned to them–If that’s the case how do I do that?
Your above explanation does not tell me where I would look to find the template tag–and I’ve looked all over the place. Any guidance would be appreciated.

    Thanks-

I’m having the same trouble: categories not showing. I tried clearing my browser cache which is what’s recommended when things don’t show, but to no avail. Help!!!!!!!

I tried posting a message in one of my categories. This gets the category to show up on the front page, except when I click on the category I get a “redirect” error from Firefox, which says I either blocked a cookie the browser needs or the server is doing something.

We need a technician to answer this problem, please!

Now I can’t access the admin area. Says my password is incorrect or a server is down. This is a mess.

@skenn2121 and @altmedst please start your own threads with those questions.

I don’t know about you altmed but that was sure helpful to me!

BTW–I already did post my own thread with this question (before I posted here)–no response there either.

@skenn2121 – please provide the link to that thread. Thanks.

Went to find it and couldn’t. Don’t know where it disappeared to. IS there a reason why you can’t provide an answer here?

Thanks MichaelH for your reply. I am using the default theme, but I still cannot see my pages and posts in the side bar.

    You have also mentioned:

“You can also use the Category and Page widgets.”

    How can I do this?

    Thanks,
    Payam

@payamfard1, since you are asking how to use widgets, then I assume you aren’t using widgets now, suggesting that widgets are not causing your problem. So, try deactivating all plugins to see if that resolves your problem. If it does solves your problem, then activate the plugins, one-by-one, to see which one causes the problem. Please let us know which plugin is causing the problem if you find it.

As for how to use widgets, see Administration > Appearance > Widgets

@skenn2121 – yours is a different question than asked by PayamFard1 so a new thread is suggested. \

And altmedst’s problem seems yet another issue, warranting its own thread.

Thanks for all your replies. As a matter of fact, I was using 2 widgets: RSS and search. I removed the RSS widget, and now I am getting the categories and pages on my sidebar ??

Is this an RSS widget bug or is this by design?

Thanks again for all your help.

Is this an RSS widget bug or is this by design?

If using something like the WordPress Default Theme, then for your sidebar, you either get Widgets or you get coded stuff from sidebar.php, so I’d say this could be something with your theme.
