Hi, so a little background. I am a coop student at a new company, and they want me to redesign their website and expand it by making use of the multisite feature. Now the website was made by contractors but I have admin access.

They want me to upgrade the package, but I don’t see any option to upgrade it. I tried a bunch of stuff that other forms suggested but nothing worked. It’s the companies website so I don’t want to do something stupid that will break it, the website isn’t well maintained there are a lot of plugin errors.

So, how do I upgrade it without potentially doing anything to break the site. Thank you in advance !!

  • Hi @sodainshal,

Welcome to the Support Forums! Here’s how to update your WordPress plugins and themes safely:

Check Compatibility: Before updating, ensure the plugin/theme is compatible with your current WordPress and PHP versions. You can find this information in the plugin/theme’s documentation or respective support forum.

Review for Conflicts: Look for any reported conflicts with other plugins you’re using. Check the plugin/theme’s support forum or website for known issues.

Update Requirements: Make sure your WordPress and PHP versions meet the minimum requirements for the update. Update them if necessary.

Test in a Staging Environment: If possible, create a development (staging) or local copy of your website and test the updates there first. This helps identify any issues before affecting your live website.

Update on Live Site: Once you’ve confirmed everything works well in the staging environment, proceed to update the plugins and themes on your live website.

Additionally, add health check and troubleshooting plugin to debug issues you encounter.

By following these steps, you can minimize the risk of encountering problems during the update process.

    I hope this helps!

    Hi @milindmore22,

Thanks a lot for the detailed information on updating plugins and themes safely! I’ll definitely be sure to follow those steps when the time comes.

However, my main concern right now is upgrading to the Creator plan. I can’t seem to find the option to upgrade within my WordPress dashboard.

Could you perhaps point me in the right direction for upgrading my plan specifically?

Can you try https://wordpress.com/plans and see if that helps!

What creator plan? From your host? There’s no such thing here for www.remarpro.com.

Hi @sterndata , sorry I don’t understand, what do you mean there is no such thing as a creator plan for www.remarpro.com, are wordpress.com and www.remarpro.com 2 separate things?

According to the output from https://wordpress.com/site-profiler/https://hdt-auto.com, your website is hosted by fastly. I am therefore unsure why you see a connection here with wordpress.com or www.remarpro.com?

Yeah, if your site isn’t at WordPress.com, then you can’t upgrade to a WordPress.com plan.

The good news is though that, with a www.remarpro.com site, you already have almost all of the features that the WordPress.com Creator plan would have added for free. ??

Would you please let us know what you wanted from the WordPress.com Creator plan? We’d be happy to direct you to the relevant documentation over here.

Oh, and if you wanted more server space, then you do need to speak to your hosting provider about that.

Hi @threadi , It seems there might be a misunderstanding. My website’s infrastructure is actually on www.remarpro.com, and it’s hosted by Flywheel. Thanks!

Yeah @macmanx , I was confused between www.remarpro.com and wordpress.com, but thanks to @sterndata i got the idea and yeah the www.remarpro.com has the feature for free that I was looking for in the creator plan. Thanks Everyone!
