The error message comes up every time I try to upload my oam file. It says that it cannot find the original edge JS file but it exists and I’m not sure what to do. It might be a simple miss-click but I have no idea. I’ve tried 8 times and multiple different methods of uploading. Nothing seems to work.

This is a known problem since the november update of edge animate, please see the following:

    Hi Everyone,

Working with Timm we have found a possible workaround to this problem and a way to import OAM files into a WP site. This may give you a way to get past work bottlenecks while Timm is building a new plugin.

But be VERY CAREFUL, this is a lightly tested workaround and it uses the non-production version of the Edge Suite plugin, ES5.

If you are still interested, and don’t mind some risk please do the following:

You need to do 2 things:

In Edge Animate, as part of your animation you need to do two steps:
Add a preloader (wait cursor) to your Edge Animate animation. This is set as part of the Stage.
Check the box for “Publish preload DOM as separate file” under Web Publish settings.
Use the newest version of the plugin, ES5. And to reiterate Timm’s note, “DON’T EVEN TRY TO USE THIS IN PRODUCTION! ” so use with caution. You can get ES5 here:
    https://github.com/ti2m/edge-suite-wp/tree/ea5
If this workaround works for you, great. Please let us all know.

If it doesn’t work, let us know what the problems are that you are running into.

    Hi,

One other thing you might want (or need) to do: set a Max Width for the Stage of your animation. If you are using Responsive Scaling and your animation seems to be too big in the page its one, setting the Max Width is a good workaround.

Please test the latest dev version of the plugin here in the repo. Closing as resolved, please open a new issue if you experience any problems with the dev version.

I am having this same issue and the workaround doesn’t seem to work for me.

I changed the file extension from .oam to .zip so I could check if the preload files existed and noticed it was missing. I then added it from the Web Publish files and changed the extension back to .oam. Now it uploads OK but I get an error message saying: “Unable to parse stage name from main edge file”.

After upload failed with distribution plugin version, replaced with the recommended ES5 patch here. Upload now succeeds, but receive the following errors & text is not properly formatted. Shall I make a new issue post?

The file IAS-Animation-Take2.oam has been uploaded.
Auto detection of stage dimensions failed: Unable to spot stage variable.
The following libraries have been updated:
    edge.5.0.1.min.js

    IAS-Animation-Take2 was successfully imported.

You can ignore the message, it is a legacy message for older versions of EA.

    Hi,

    I get:

Cannot find main JS edge file /TANK01/580a784d313deb55d1ff1fba4f2f83c9/wwwroot/wp-content/uploads/edge_suite/edge_tmp/src_1433684725/Assets/Board3_edgePreload.js.

when trying to ul the aom file (named “Board3.oam”).

All edge suit directories are 777 by default. I also tried switching of all plug ins except Edge Animate. I tried adding a preloader image (spinning circle from library) and set the Max width to 1100px. Nothing worked.

Any more ideas to get this plug in to work?

UPDATE: downloaded dev version and it uploaded the oam file! But now I get a 403 error “You don’t have permission to access /board/ on this server.” instead. There is nothing but the oam file on the page. Go figure.

    Cheers

    Johan
