Cannot find crawl errors – help much appreciated!!
-
Hi All.
Google webmaster tools is advising me of 11 “not found” urls detected when crawling my site. An example of one of the urls it cannot find is:
https://philmallinsonautos.co.uk/about-us/www.philmallinsonautos.co.uk
and that is supposed to be linked from https://philmallinsonautos.co.uk/about-us/Each of the not found errors is in the same format, it is the correct URL of that page followed by /www.philmallinsonautos.co.uk.
I thought I’d identified the problem as when I checked the page source, in the footer was a link created by my theme to https://www.philmallinsonautos.co.uk (I had put that into the theme before setting up wordpress and deciding not to use www. and forgot about it). I removed the link and waiting but google has since crawled the site and the errors are still showing. Can anyone spot where google is finding this link?
Thanks in advance for your help, I am in the early learning stages of website building so if you respond, please do so in “idiot proof” language!!
