Cannot even enter admin tool at this point. PLEASE HELP!

Hello,

I run a fan site for a band using WordPress. It was built back in 2005 or so by someone other than myself, and I no longer have contact with that person. I was/am still running on a very old version, I believe it was version 1.X. I never upgraded, because I didn’t know how to do so, and didn’t want to break something that was still functioning properly.

In about mid-May, I was suddenly unable to edit blog posts on the site. Shortly after, I could not post new blogs at all. I also could not edit any existing pages. I went to the WordPress forum for help, and many other users were having the same problem. Many other users, including myself, found that a mysterious user called “Google” was now in the Users dropdown list in the admin tool, and there was some strange code inserted in the main style coding area. In some cases, some mysterious .png files had appeared in the image files in their FTP. There were a few fixes that people had discovered, most of which required making changes in the database, which I had never before accessed, and honestly do not even know HOW to access. I also do not know how to upgrade, which also seemed to fix some people’s problems.

I was quite busy at the time and let the site go un-updated for nearly a month or two. When I tried to log in to the admin tool a few weeks ago, I couldn’t even log in with my admin username and password. I changed the password, and still could not/cannot log in. So now I have NO chance of attempting to fix it.

I assume the only way to “fix” the site at this point is to upgrade the WordPress platform I was using. I was wondering if anyone out there might be able to do this for me, or provide very detailed instructions on how to do this. I assume this will take some database work, and I am MORE than willing to pay someone to compensate them for their time. This site means a lot to me and thousands of other fans, and I just want to get it back up and running, safely, as soon as possible.

Please let me know if there is anything you can do to help, or if you know someone that would be willing to help me get my site back up and running. I would very much appreciate if you or someone you know could upgrade the site for me and get it up and running with a usable admin tool.
