Cannot enable stock-management on variable product

    I am trying to enable stock management on Woocommerce variable product and it does not work. When I go to Variation tab and expand individual product – the Stock field does not show up.
    I thought that it might be outdated version of Woocommerce (2.0.20) that does not have this setting – so I upgraded to latest WordPress 4.2.2 and WooCommerce 2.3.8, upgraded database, disabled all other plugins – but same issue.

    Interestingly enough this functionality works on my other WooCommerce website and I cannot find what setting can be responsible for showing it.

    I still can manage the stock level on general product level. It is just on the variation level the Stock field missing.

    Any help would be appreciated as I went through all settings few times and just cannot get it. The only theory I have left is that the old 2.0.20 version did not have this field and the database update does not work properly.

  • I am using 2.3.8.

    Ensure that at the Product Data section > Inventory tab, Manage stock? “Enable stock management at product level” is not checked.

    On the variations tab, for each variation, ensure “Manage stock?” is checked. The stock fields should then appear.

    lorro, Unfortunately these fields don’t show up for me on this particular woocommerce installation.

    Please check that at Admin page > WooCommerce > Settings > Products tab > Inventory sub-page, that “Enable stock management” is checked.

    Lorro, you are right! I just overlooked the submenu with Inventory settings on Product Settings.

    i did exactly that, but when clicking on expand it doesn’t expand, i did exactly as written here, please help
