WordPress 3 Tutorial: How To Edit a Page

Thanks…I had read the tutorials before….but the problem is that the page to be edited doesn’t even come up on my PC. The pages with photos are not getting downloaded…so that I can’t even look at them on the PC.

If there are no photos, no problem…I can edit the pages.

    Thanks

I want to “EDIT” pages with photos in the pages, but the selected pages doesn’t download on my PC

So here’s the questions, because I am not clear on what you mean…
You want to download the entire page to your computer? Yes?
Precisely, how are you downloading the pages to your computer?
Are you going into the Visula/Text Editor, copying what is in the editor window, then downloading it?

    Hi

    1. Yes, I want to download the entire page on the computer
    2. On the Welcome screen of WordPress, using the left command bar, I select “PAGES”. All my pages appears. Then I select the Page I want to edit, press the command EDIT, and nothing happens…..the timing ICON just keeps rolling and rolling….The weird thing is that this only happens with Pages with photos in them. Regular text only pages are OK.
    3. No

    Thanks

I see… that is an entirely different issue. ??
This may be a plugin conflict.
Are you up to date with WordPress? (version 4.4.1)
    If not, please update.
If so, deactivate all your plugins and see if you can get to a page with images.

Thanks. I have version 4.4.1 installed.
I deactivated all the plug-ins, and the problem still exists…can’t download the pages with photos in them.

    Thanks

One other action before going deeper. If you are not using the default Twenty-Sixteen (or 2015) theme, could you switch to it and see if there is any change. Themes can disrupt WordPress just as plugins can.

If you are using the Twenty-Sixteen (or 2015) theme, then replacing the WordPress core file may be the next step. This can be accomplished without loss of any content.
Can you access File Manager through logging into your host account?
    or
Do you have a FTP client such as Filezilla?

    Hi,

    My theme is DIVI.

I don’t know what you mean by “access File Manager through logging into your host account”…. I can access the usual Internet Explorer commands (File, Edit, View, etc) while having a WordPress session open, if this is what you mean….Note that, as I am sure you already noticed, I am a non-technical person.

    I don’t have Filezilla.

    Thanks for your help

Where is your site hosted – i.e. Godaddy, Hostgator, Bluehost, etc.?

    Hi,

    HostPapa

    From HostPapa:

File Manager is part of your cPanel, which you can easily access through your HostPapa dashboard:

Log in to your HostPapa dashboard: https://www.hostpapa.com/dashboard

Click on My cPanel. If you have more than one domain associated with your HostPapa account, click on the appropriate domain link, then enter your cPanel password if required.

From the Files section, click on File Manager icon.

    Replacing the WordPress core files:

First, downloaded a fresh copy of WordPress to your computer and unzipped it.

Being as there are may be other files that are not a part of WordPress, I will list the exact files and folders to replace.

The files/folder you will NOT replace:
    – wp-content folder
    – htaccess (if one is there)
    – wp-config.php

    Do not rush doing this!!

Next, you will first delete all the following and then upload new, one folder or file at a time:
    – wp-admin folder
    NOT wp-content folder
    – wp-includes folder

    – the following files only:
    index.php
    wp-activate.php
    wp-blog-header.php
    wp-comments-post.php
    NOT wp-config.php
    wp-cron.php
    wp-links-opml.php
    wp-load.php
    wp-login.php
    wp-mail.php
    wp-settings.php
    wp-signup.php
    wp-trackback.php
    xmlrpc.php

There will be a “wp-config-sample.php” in the fresh WordPress. Do not upload this.

This will replace your WordPress files without losing content.

Check your site and post back here with your results. I will be monitoring this thread for your reply.

Wow! Scarry stuff! I’ll wait for next week before trying this out…some members of our charitable organization are running a fund-raising this week using links to this web-site…I wouldn’t want to crash everything up.

Thanks for your help. I’ll get back to it next week

    Okay.
