  • Hi PKJR, I also having the same problem, after successfully install wordpress 2.2 provided by Fantastico. I login to /wp-admin and try to create a page where where consist of “Title” and “Content”. After keyin the title, i proceed to content. In the content i try to type or edit any word but nothing happen. Message indicated that “Error on Page” at the bottom of window, just above the window “Start” button. To work around i remove wordpress from fantastico and re-install. But the same error happened again. Could anyone know what is the problem. The wordpress version is 2.2.

Therem are few postings of that nature but seems like we all have the same problem.. I experince exactly what you have..

to make it going right now.. I do View page from Manage screen and then click on edit (on the page/section being viewed) .. that brings me back to Edit mode and now I can see the text..that seems to temporary fix the problem at least for the page I want to edit..

However, this is defenietly a BUG

I noticed that the edit appear ok while loading, after loading the edit, it will proceed to load “Upload”, “Optional Excerpt”, “Tracbacks” and “Customs Fields”. Here where the coding start to corrupt the edit. I think quite likely the upload corrupt the editor, since they are related to each other.

PJKR, i tried your work-around method, it is working but not all the time. I think you are right, there must be BUG.

I have another work-around method which is also sometimes work and soemtimes don’t. Key-in the Title and press “Save & continue edit” and click the “Preview >>” button, right below your topic click “Edit Post”. it will bring you back to the editor page. Then you can edit from there.

I had the same problem but have just loaded Firefox and it works perfectly using that browser.

I spoke too soon. I can type into the field with Firefox but it doesn’t save the text.

First off, what web browsers are you guys using, and what operating system? Do you have javascript enabled? I suspect you are using the Visual Editor but have some settings that are inhibiting the javascript from running properly (maybe virus scan or pop up blocker software). Have you tried switching the the “code” input editor?

Also, as an experiment, go to your profile and uncheck the “use the Visual Editor” setting and see if that clears up your problems–if so then it’s a Javascript issue. WordPress uses a heavy amount of AJAX (javascript and xml) and if your system is blocking that then you won’t be able to do much.

    Hi Harknell,

I am using ie7.0 with window xp. I have javascript not the Visual Editor. No virus detected, I only install google toolbar as my pop-up blocker along with window defender.

Tried with “code” tap same condition happen. “Error on Page”

If my system is blocking the javascript, then i wouldn’t be able to edit the text after published. I work around by published the post and from the post i click to edit, then this time it work

Until now i still have problem editing and modifying Page because it desn’t have edit button to revisit the Page

I had the very same problem but through a lot of frustration I was able to solve the problem. Don’t know if it will do the trick for everyone else but it worked for me.

After I created my blog I set up a desktop icon so that I could easily get to my blog administrator for creating posts. Apparently when setting up the desktop icon something got lost. It got me to my wp-admin ok so that I could login with my id/password and I was able to see everything as normal except when I went to make a post. I had ‘Error on Page’ and it wouldn’t allow me to type anything in the edit area.

But …if I bypassed using the desktop icon and simply used internet explorer and typed in:
    https://www.sitename.com/blog/wp-admin

    the problem went away.

Looks like something got lost in setting up my desktop icon.

Well sounds like I found some people that had the same problem I have but 5 to 11 months later. I will try some of the clues above but I cannot edit any pages or posts, cannot even make them appear in the typing box. I get the title which is editable and nothing but nothing will let me edit. All I did was install different templates and plugins but even going back to default I have the same problem. If anyone is still paying attention, I would certainly appreciate any help.
